Immigration Team
The 1 Pump Court Immigration team stands out for its passionate commitment and dedication. The team has established a strong reputation for providing the highest quality advocacy and written work and members of the team are experienced in and undertake all areas and levels of work.
Areas of work:
Refugee Law
This is perhaps the most rewarding and needed area of our work. Barristers at 1 Pump Court only undertake applicant work and are at all times sensitive to the extreme consequences of the case they are undertaking.
All of the barristers within the team have earned their reputation and are highly experienced.
Entry Clearance
The rights of those from Commonwealth countries and EC countries to enter the UK can, all too often, be an area where issues arise requiring advice and representation at the appellate level. Barristers at 1 Pump Court have significant experience in appealing on behalf of such applicants.
Deportation, Removal
Members of the 1 Pump Court Chambers Immigration team have strong experience in arguing against, appealing or judicially reviewing Deportation decisions made consequent to (as well as independent of) recommendations made by the criminal courts. In addition the team has considerable experience in advice and advocacy in relation to urgent removal situations.
Multi-disciplinary and cross over expertise.
1 Pump Court Chambers is a multi-disciplinary Chambers and as such barristers in one specialist group have easy access to colleagues specialising in other areas should they require. In addition, many of the barristers have practices and expertise crossing more than one area of law such as:
- Immigration and criminal law
- Immigration and family law
- Immigration and housing law
- Immigration and welfare benefits
- Immigration and community care
This places them in an ideal position to have regard, when advising or representing a client, to all aspects of the clients situation.

Supreme Court
R (A) v London Borough of Croydon [2009] UKSC 8 (Disputed age)
