Fees Clerk
1 Pump Court Chambers currently requires a full time Fees Clerk to join its well established Fees team. The successful applicant can expect £25,000 to £30,000 per annum based on relevant experience and 25 days holiday.
The main area of law that will be covered is Family but the candidate would be expected to have a working knowledge of all areas of work that chambers covers. Therefore the successful candidate will know all aspects of Family billing and collection and will be fully converse with all the relevant rules and regulations involved with Family fee collection.

Civil Clerk
1 Pump Court Chambers currently requires a full time Civil Clerk to join its well established team. The successful applicant can expect up to £40,000 per annum based on relevant experience and 25 days holiday allotment.
The main areas of law covered in the position are Housing, Immigration, Public Law, Prison Law, Judicial Review, Public Access and General Civil. On a day to day basis the role will include managing the civil diaries of approximately 30 members of chambers and you will have the full support of your line manager and the rest of the clerking team. You will also take an active role in the practice development of the members along with their continued marketing and business development.
Additional duties will include but are not restricted to:

Providing general support to the Senior Civil Clerk as and when required in all aspects of clerking members
- Acting as point of contact to members for their administrative support
- Liaising with solicitor clients in arranging conferences and general appointments including the fixing of cases in courts and tribunals
- Accurately recording data on LEX software to ensure all records are up to date
- Maintaining and developing effective relationships with solicitor clients
- Having the ability to negotiate fees and allocate work to members without the supervision or prior authorisation of a Senior Civil Clerk in appropriate circumstances
- Providing assistance in the management and delegation of tasks to junior clerks
- Understanding and applying the Equality and Diversity code, as this applies in respect of your duties in clerking members
- Playing an active and influential role in the future success of Chambers
It is essential that all applicants have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at A-C Grade (or equivalent) including Maths and English, have experience of managing diaries and negotiating fee's with clients. Other desired experience would be a good working knowledge of the range of civil funding including Immigration fees, conditional fees and High Cost legal aid cases and an understanding of the LEX system. Previous clerking experience will also obviously benefit applicants but is not essential.
