Graham Denholm

Practice

Praised in the Legal 500 2010 as a “superb advocate, well organised and knowledgeable”, Graham specialises in public law with a focus on immigration and asylum work. His practice involves a range of immigration-related judicial review cases, as well as regular appearances before the First-tier and Upper Tribunals and the Court of Appeal. He also acts in community care judicial review claims with an immigration angle, including age-dispute cases.

Graham is often instructed in High Court challenges to immigration detention, and can advise on all aspects of judicial review and civil claims in that area. He has trained regularly on unlawful detention for Chambers and for ILPA.

In the Tribunal, Graham appears in immigration appeals, including commercial immigration matters, EEA appeals, complex asylum appeals, and appeals against decisions to deport. He is happy to advise on strategic and evidential issues early in the appeal process.

Graham is experienced in dealing with emergency applications in the Administrative Court in detention and removal cases.

Graham is presently acting in a number of cases before the European Court of Human Rights, and can advise on procedural aspects of applications to the Court, as well as emergency procedures.
