Practice

Raggi is committed to providing the best quality representation for clients with immigration and asylum cases and in related fields. She practices at all levels of the process from the AIT to the CA, including an extensive judicial review practise.

Raggi specialises in cases involving violence against women. This includes domestic violence, sexual violence, trafficking and FGM. As her training and other work shows, she has developed a particular and recognised expertise and experience in dealing with issues relating to severe trauma and how this may impact on a claim.

She was recently instructed in AM and BM, the County Guidance Case on albanian trafficking victims. She was also instructed in Etame & Anirah [2008] EWHC 1140 (Admin).

Raggi is currently instructed in a number of leading cases which relate to gender issues in both the Admin Court and Court of Appeal. These cases are still ongoing.

Practice-Related Work

Raggi had extensive experience in the voluntary sector and has also worked as an in-house advocate / caseworker at Wilson & Co before coming to the Bar and has continued to be active in legal campaigning, policy, training and cutting-edge research related to her areas of practice.

Raggi set up and co-ordinates the Anti-Trafficking Legal Project (ATLeP). Through ATLeP, Raggi trains both lawyers and non-lawyers on legal issues that affect victims of trafficking (VoT) and undertakes policy work. Raggi was also part of a team funded to go to Albania by the OSCE, which conducted research into issues affecting VoTs to assist asylum seekers in the UK. In February 2008, Raggi, along with three other members of ATLeP provided oral evidence to the Home Affairs Committee Inquiry into Human Trafficking.

Recent Training

Raggi trains for ILPA on the effects of trauma on credibility with Stuart Turner and Jane Herlihy, two of the leading clinicians/researchers in the field. She continues to train with Jane Herlihy regularly for a number of different organisations.

Raggi also trains for ILPA on issues affecting victims of domestic violence and preparing fast track cases.

Raggi has extensively trained both lawyers and the voluntary sector on immigration and gender issues. She trains with many different organisations including Rights of Women, Imkaan, Southall Black Sisters, the Refugee Council and Womens Aid. Raggi also trains throughout the UK for the Anti Trafficking Legal Project on various legal issues that affect victims of trafficking.

Raggi regularly trains on immigration/asylum issues through chambers, ILPA, the Law Society and The Poppy Project.

Other Memberships

Raggi is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Refugee Women’s Resource

Project at Asylum Aid, which won the 2006 Emma Humphrey’s Memorial Prize.

Raggi also works with a number of other women’s organisations on immigration issues.
