Joanna Wood
Practice
Immigration, asylum and human rights: Joanna has considerable advocacy experience in this area and represents individuals at all levels. She also has a substantial paperwork practice, which includes drafting grounds for review, judicial review and advising on the merits of various applications.
Family: Joanna deals with many areas of family law, including private and public Children Act proceedings, domestic violence and other injunction proceedings. She has a particular interest in those cases which involve elements of immigration and asylum law.
She is trained in direct access.
Joanna is currently on maternity leave.

Joanna has a strong interest in both domestic and international pro bono work. As well as having volunteered for FRU and the Fulham Legal Advice Centre in previous years, she has acted as an immigration adviser at Hackney Community Law Centre, between November 2003 and February 2005. In December 2004, Joanna attended a fact finding mission in South East Turkey on behalf of the Kurdish Human Rights Project and the Bar Human Rights Committee. She also conducted a trial observation at Adana Heavy Criminal Court, of three police officers accused of an extra-judicial execution. In May 2005, Joanna provided legal training to lawyers and academics on Article 41 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Joanna has also drafted and assisted with applications to the European Court of Human Rights.
